Our programme features works by the great triumvirate of composers active in Northern Germany in the eighteenth century: Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), his son Carl Philip Emmanuel Bach (1714-1788), and his highly influential and prolific godfather Georg Philip Telemann (1681-1767) who’d become friends with Johann Sebastian at Eisenach when they were both in the early stages of their ultimately contrasting musical careers. This fascinating and delightful collection of works highlights the gradual changes in musical style and developing taste towards the middle of the eighteenth century. Alongside less familiar music we include well known favourites such as the famous ‘Air on a G String’.
